Properly Maintain the Cooling System
Excessive heat is an enemy of a car engine, so it is very important that your vehicle's cooling system can keep the engine at a safe temperature. Make it a point to keep the cooling system, which includes the radiator, thermostat, and water pump, in good working condition. In addition, get in the habit of checking the coolant level in your vehicle to make sure that it never gets too low.
Check Your Air Filter
Your car's engine needs fuel and oxygen to run properly, and when their is not the right ratio of air problems can occur. You can prevent these types of engine problems by making sure that your air filter is clean and free of debris. A good rule of thumb is to have the air filter checked when you get an oil change service, and replace it as needed.
Take Care of Leaks Promptly
A vehicle in good repair should not be leaking any fluids. An oil leak or a coolant leak can potentially cause a lot of problems for the engine, so it is important to have your car repaired quickly if you notice any leaking. Continuing to drive when you know you have a leak can eventually result in serious damage to your engine.
